In December 2025 the LMB once again united for the annual Christmas raffle to raise money for charity. Each year a new charity is selected and this year over £2000 was raised in aid of CamCycle. This charity was nominated by Lalita Ramakrishnan in memory of Mark Troll, an avid cyclist and advocate for cycling safety. Mark previously campaigned with CamCycle to light the DNA path following a serious accident involving an LMB alumni. We were pleased to be joined by Anna Williams from CamCycle, who was presented with a cheque by LMB Director Jan Löwe.

CamCycle is a Cambridge-based charity founded in 1995 that works to increase cycling and improve cycling safety across Cambridge and the surrounding area. The charity collaborates closely with local politicians, businesses and community organisations to enhance cycling infrastructure, including cycle paths, lanes, traffic signals, bridges and cycle parks. These achievements are made possible by the dedication and ongoing campaigning efforts of the over 1,700 volunteers at CamCycle.

The LMB raffle has taken place annually for over 50 years, with people from across the LMB getting involved by donating prizes and buying tickets. Since 2000, the LMB has raised over £34,000 for local and national charities, picked for the support they have given to the LMB and their families.

Fundraising was supported by a charity sale by LMB’s Craft and Chatter group

In recent years, the LMB’s fundraising efforts have been enhanced by the Craft and Chatter Group, who raise money through a Christmas craft sale. For the 2025 sale, they sold an assortment of handmade gifts, including ornaments, crotchet figurines and cards, adding just under £600 to the total amount raised.

Anna from CamCycle commented: “CamCycle would like to thank all those who raised such a brilliant amount for our work through the Christmas raffle. This will enable us to make a big difference to the lives and journeys of those who currently cycle – and would like to cycle – in and around Cambridge. We’re grateful to Lalita for the nomination, to Mark for his dedicated campaigning, and to all the members, supporters and partners who help us deliver more cycling for a better future.”

The LMB would like to echo Anna’s thanks and thank all those who have helped make these fundraising events a success. The LMB wishes everyone all the best for 2026.
