Postdocs

We are always looking for curious and aspirational scientists to join our diverse community.

At the LMB, you will have the freedom and support to participate in and drive exceptional research, providing an outstanding launchpad to a professional career in science and beyond.

Around 200 postdocs from around the world work at the LMB, forming the largest group of scientists in the Institute.

Research is the foremost priority: there is no obligation to teach, and all research groups are generously and centrally funded. Collaboration with fellow scientists, shared state-of-the‑art scientific facilities and support staff ensure groundbreaking science can thrive.

Although many positions are Institute-funded, Fellowship applications are welcomed and encouraged as an important step towards academic independence. Flexible funding provides the ability to go further and to finish projects and publications.

The Postdoc Association of the LMB (PAL) organises monthly tea breaks, regular social gatherings, a postdoc buddy system for new joiners and Postdoc symposia.

Postdoctoral Development

All postdocs benefit from the LMB’s broad training and development offerings, and from attending and hosting regular symposia and lectures from leading international scientists.

Varied career paths are supported through mentorship, training, talks, networking and access to bespoke careers advice.

Postdoctoral positions are regularly advertised, and we warmly welcome speculative applications. Get in touch with Group Leaders directly to learn more about their research and to discuss your ideas.
