LMB Member Resources
The information provided on this page is intended for use solely by members of the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) and affiliated individuals who have been granted access to LMB systems.
Unauthorised access or misuse of these internal networks is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action or legal consequences.
Members of the LMB can access their email remotely using webmail.
Proxy Access
Scientific Computing provide two web proxies to allow remote access to journals and internal web services. They require your LMB email ID (the part before the ‘@’) and password.
Important: Please turn the proxy off when you have finished. All traffic via the proxy is monitored and the LMB IT Policy applies.
Most web browsers support using proxy servers which can be configured through the browser settings.
Primary server: http-proxy.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk port 7999
Back-up server: proxy.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk port 7999
Please make sure you set the same server for both HTTP and HTTPS.
VPN Access
VPN access can be arranged by IT, although VPN Level 3 access requires Group Leader approval. This must be done from on site.
Intranet
The LMB intranet can only be accessed from inside the network – either physically inside the building, via the proxy, or through the VPN.
